Our trip starts out at Cherry Point Seafood, where you'll board Pirate's Lady.  You'll find the captain and crew helpful as you find a comfortable seat alongside the rail.  As we leave the dock, you'll be acquainted with the safety features onboard.

We'll cruise out of  Bohicket Creek, heading toward our first point of interest.  To the left, you'll find  Seabrook Island.  To the right, across the marsh, the Island of Wadmalaw.  The tidal waters of the Bohicket can be swift as millions of gallons of salt water filter in and out of this wetland area.  The marsh itself is the heart of the low country and the crew will explain this valuable resource during your trip.

We depart from the commercial fishing dock of Cherry Point Seafood.  You'll find several kinds of fishing vessels here: shrimp boats, long-line fishing boats, and bottom fishing boats.  The shrimp boats here have been a tradition in the South for generations and the boats on the Bohicket are no exception.  Our crew will give you the details on shrimp boat anatomy as you pass by this crowded dock.  The long-liners, as they are called, get their name from the long monofilament line used in their fishing technique.  These types of boats are featured in the recent movie, "The Perfect Storm".

As the cruise continues, we find Jenkins Point off to the left, which is part of Seabrook Island and the site of one of the area's last cotton plantations.  Seabrook and Wadmalaw Islands represent generations of growers here in the area.  Cotton, rice, and indigo plantations made up the fabric of the low country in the late 1700's and early 1800's.  The crew can expand on these plantations as you cruise by.

Next we find the commercial fishing dock of East Coast Seafood and the town of Rockville.  East Coast Seafood features some of the best kept shrimp boats around.  Over the years, these handsome vessels have taken part in movies filmed in the area.  The movies "Paradise", "Forest Gump", and "The Prince of Tides" have all taken advantage of this floating maritime history.  With its quaint homes and historic background, the town of Rockville's unique waterfront has attracted visitors for years.  After its discovery back in the late 1600's, this town has treated locals to generations of cool summertime breezes.

Next...   The North Edisto,  Dolphin, Botany  Island, Deveaux Bank, The Eagle's nest and   Edisto Island.
